Wil Love
Artist

Wil Love is a 40 year old artist/musician residing in Bull Shoals, Arkansas. Having grown up in the Grand Prairie/Delta regions of Arkansas, his love of this area often is shown in the style/themes of his works. Having no formal art "lessons" he has relied on the "trial & error" approach to develop his own style in the many mediums he works with. Although he works with faux stained glass, painted murals, and custom wood, his main passion lies in "Rock Art" including portraits and promotional posters for various bands throughout the region.

"Music being my main passion, the challenge of capturing a certain "feel" or "message" a group is trying to get across, is the most rewarding aspect of what I do," according to Love.

Wil has a wide range of influences which include, R. Crumb, Stanley Mouse, Rick Griffin, Zac Ray, and his uncle, Russell Love. "As a kid & growing up in a musical/artistic household, my first memories of being moved by the world of art were from album covers, and this is made obvious with a collection of over 4000 strong."

The lists of artistic accomplishments include a mural located in the Reynolds Building in downtown Pine Bluff, Festival Artist for posters/T-shirts for Wings over the Prairie/World Championship Duck Calling Contest in Stuttgart, Ar 2008, numerous promotional pieces for the Museum of the Grand Prairie, Stuttgart, AR, promotional posters (some featured in Nightflying magazine) for bands such as Wide Spread Panic (via Hot off the Lot), Interstate Buffalo, Tyrannosaurus Chicken, FreeVerse, Cedell Davis, Duwayne Burnside, Thomas Houston Jones, Dave Kimbrough Jr, South 61, MidSummers Night Jam Festival's I & II, Coopers Orbit, and the Shermans & Johny Lowebow.

According to Love, "The main goal with art, regardless of the genre, is to make someone hear, feel and taste what it is they see. It's not so much the focal point of a piece, but everything going on in the background, that enhances the vibe. Love adds, "The biggest accomplishment one can have in this field is to have people glance across a room and see a piece of art and know exactly whose "it is."

Love takes an enormous amount of pride in his quest to allow someone to feel a "message" in his work, and is constantly striving to make each new piece a step above the last.
